A force of fear tugs at our minds,
Pulling us deeper into the storm of thought.
One moment, we are calm, anchored, still
Seeing the world as a gentle place,
Safe, depending on how we choose to look,
And where we stand within its quiet spaces
Outside, the neighborhood hums its steady tune,
The mundane rhythm of peace and routine
Wild creatures carry on, unaware,
Oblivious to the human schemes and woes
But inside, the screens flicker with urgency,
Voices demanding we be afraid,
Of things far beyond our control.
I question their endless warnings,
Their taunts stir the restless night
I turn away, knowing this:
If the world does shatter into countless shards,
No news, no words they utter now,
Could truly prepare me for that end
