I reached for God
she slipped like water through my hands

I searched for answers
each one unfolded into a thousand more questions

I tried to master my heart
and sank deeper beneath its waves

I sought to bend the world to my will
and found myself ensnared

But just for today
I will let the river run its course
and trust the earth to turn as it must
