I make peace with summer
lay down resistance to its splendor
I surrender to the turning
the ache of seasonal shift
Let the sun burn through me
Let the sweat bead & bless
Let the insects chant their buzzing songs
the weeds rising wild in the yard
I no longer retreat indoors
no longer hide from the heat
I let the light take me
fully, slowly
On the lawn I lie, arms open wide
a groom awaiting his goddess
Plant your passion in me
Let your warmth root & rise
Shine on me
as fierce as you dare
I am yours
undone
unhidden
wholly claimed
