The gate began to groan at twelve
A breathless hinge from shadow’s shelve
Mist curled like fingers through the bars
Clutching dreams & silver stars
She came in silence, pale & thin
With candlelight beneath her skin
A ghost not bound by death or bone
But by a love she could not own
He stood where ivy cracked the stone
A living heart, yet not alone
His breath was a fog that kissed the air
Met hers, though nothing lingered there
The moon wept down in argent lace
To bathe her in a bridal grace
She reached but never touched his chest
A yearning locked in spectral breast
Around them, tombs like sleeping kings
Heard every vow the midnight sings
She spoke in winds, in moth-winged sighs
He answered with his living cries
Their love was stitched from dusk & grief
A fragile, flame-lit, trembling leaf
And yet, they met night after night
At that gate veiled in starless light
But dawn is cruel & ghosts must flee
Like whispers drowned beneath the sea
Each morn he wakes with cold regret
A kiss he feels but can’t forget
So still he walks, though none await
To meet her at the graveyard gate
A mortal heart, a ghost’s caress
Two shadows bound in soft distress
