I felt the flame of wrath arise
a holy fire turned foul
and in my hands I held his throat
my brother, marked for trial
No sword I drew, no gallows built
no poison touched his bread
Instead, I chose a deeper sin:
to drag him down instead
We stood beside the river’s edge
the flood of judgment wide
I thought to cast him from my path
but wrath walked at my side
With arms like chains, I wrapped him close
a serpent wound in flesh
and leapt with him into the black
where none are born afresh
No angel wept, no trumpet blared
just silence thick as prayer
and in that still baptismal dark
I met my own despair
For vengeance is a holy lie
a hymn that ends in screams
to kill with rage is to descend
into the death it dreams
So hear this warning, cloaked in dusk:
to drown your foe in hate
you first must tie your soul to his
and seal your shared fate
